European Commission (Directorate General Education and Culture)

Established in 1958, library collections are built on the holdings of the ECSC High Authority, EURATOM and the EEC/EU, and include official EU publications, publications from intergovernmental organizations, commercial, academic and government publications, and selected periodical articles. Coverage: European integration, policy objectives and activities of EU institutions; material on EU Member States; specialist publications on subjects falling within EU remit. ECLAS provides complete coverage from 1978. About 12,000 titles fall within the field of education, of those between 1000 and 2000 are specific to the field of adult literacy/learning. The Central Library co-ordinates a network of libraries/information centres in Directorates General.
